Kaniki & Shanice​

You know how they say “love comes when you least expect it”?
Well, for us, love came through an Instagram DM… and a whole lot of football rivalry.

It all began on November 7th, 2022, when Kaniki, an unapologetic Arsenal fan, slid into Shanice’s Instagram DMs to tease her about her favorite team, Tottenham Hotspur. Little did he know, that playful banter would spark the beginning of something extraordinary.

What started as friendly football jabs quickly turned into deep, genuine conversations, daily laughs, and late-night chats. And not long after, we had our first date – watching none other than a match between Arsenal and Tottenham… where, to Kaniki’s absolute delight, Tottenham was beaten. 😅 That match may have settled the football score, but it also marked the beginning of something special and something neither of us saw coming.

For a full year, we told ourselves we were “just friends”, even though our hearts were already quietly choosing each other. That’s 365 days of pretending it was just vibes, while everyone else could see the chemistry brewing.

Then, on November 7th, 2023, exactly a year after that fateful DM, Kaniki made it official and asked Shanice to be his girlfriend. From there, our relationship only grew stronger, anchored by love and friendship… and still the occasional football banter.

Fast forward to March 23rd, 2025, a day steeped in tradition and love, when Kaniki and his family came to Shanice’s home for the lobola ceremony, asking for her hand in marriage. It was a day of joy and cultural unity that beautifully honored where we both come from.

Then, just three days later, on March 26th, 2025, Shanice’s birthday came with the ultimate surprise: a proposal. In the most thoughtful and heartfelt way, Kaniki asked Shanice to spend forever with him. And without hesitation, she said yes (with maybe a tear or two in between). 💍

And now, here we are, tying the knot, surrounded by love, faith, and the people who matter most.
